The Rotary Club of Sandton, sponsor of equipment and containers in which Oasis runs our clinic in the informal settlement of Itsoseng outside Cosmo City, was awarded a Significant Achievement Award by Rotary International’s president. The award was handed to the Club at their annual induction dinner and 40th anniversary of the Club’s establishment on Saturday evening. The clinic was described as an excellent project which will serve as a model for projects elsewhere. The Itsoseng clinic was the only project in Rotary District 9300 receiving the award this year.
Hans Ludolph from Sandton Rotary has been instrumental in setting up the clinic and serves as volunteer with Lynn, his wife and a registered nurse. Both Hans and Lynn continue to inspire others with their service above self and especially their love for children. The clinic is a key part of our wellness programme, empowering people to take ownership of their own well-being. We have seen more than 1,000 patients since opening the clinic in February 2010 and it is in the process of becoming a down-referral site for HIV positive patients receiving anti-retroviral treatment from government clinics.
Oasis South Africa and Sandton Rotary look forward to continue and expand our partnership to benefit both the communities of Itsoseng and Cosmo City.
