Our vision at Oasis is for community – we do all we can to help create places where every person is included, able to make their unique contribution and reach their God-given potential
In South Africa, we live and work in the exciting new community of Cosmo City – a newly built economically integrated community that holds the promise to overcome some of our country’s greatest challenges.
We believe that our community will only reach its full potential if all people that are part of it do. Reaching this point will not be easy and take time… we have started this process by learning and growing together about what it means to be Change Agents: people who are becoming increasingly passionate about both personal and community transformation as we seek to follow the example of Jesus Christ.
Being a Change Agent is a life-long process that starts with being an apprentice, learning from others that have been on the journey for a longer time. An apprenticeship looks different for each person, but always consists out of a combination of learning, reflecting and action by serving in Oasis community projects.
Our range of community projects, including health, youth and community development activities, meet immediate needs while it creates new opportunities for disadvantaged people. Our focus is always on further developing our community’s capacity to overcome the challenges it faces.
Oasis South Africa is part of a global family of organisations that works in some of the world’s most marginalised communities and people in ten countries. Oasis was founded in London by Steve Chalke in 1985.
